| Hi everyone, I
have tried to keep the e-mails to a minimum from me because of concerns
about military and e-mails
when I used to be part of the Duke Family.
So that is why I don’t communicate very much with everyone.
Please forgive me and I do continue to send care packages and you can
always reach me or Tom at his desk at
Zimmer at 467-5212 or his cell phone at 513-509-1567.
Our of our military heroes, Sgt Matthew
Hood, arrived home from his deployment recently and I was honored with
the opportunity to meet him yesterday.
It was nice to meet the person I’ve been sending care packages and
letter to that was another stranger on our list.
We continue to send out care packages and we currently have 13 people
overseas.
With Reese Smoothers son, (Reese works at Miami Fort) to be added soon
and Anastasia Zaccanti will be going back
for her 2nd deployment and leaving her husband, stepson, and 2 year old
Isabella back home at the base
in the state of Washington.
I don’t have all the information to add these heroes to my list
yet but they will be added in the months to come.
I wanted to extend and invitation
to everyone who is getting this to the “Welcome Home Celebration”
on Saturday, May 16.
This event will be held at Lunken Airport near Cincinnati close to the
Ohio River and is open for not only military
and their families but military supporters.
All of you on this list are part of my network of military supporters
so you are all invited to join.
There will be free admission, free food, free drinks, free entertainment
and much, much more.
This has developed into a three day weekend event.
Friday, May 15 will be a telethon
at WCPO studios from 5AM until 8PM.
The weekend events will benefit many organizations such as the Thank You
Foundation,
The Yellow Ribbon Support Group (the Maupins and friends),
the Military Support Group from Kenwood, and the VA Mobile Unit.
Just as an FYI….because we Tom and I are not a non-profit 501(C)3
organization,
we are not part of any of the proceeds from this weekend.
Friday evening, sponsors and corporations
may purchase tables for the Gala Celebration at the
Underground in Forest Park.
There are Veterans who are invited to attend and will be sitting at each
table for your chance to talk to them.
This event is from 5P-9P and should be a good time for all.
Saturday from 4:30 until 9:00PM is
the Welcome Home Celebration with free admission, free food, free drinks,
etc.
Military and their families as well as military supporters (Hear that
Bob and Bonnie?) are invited to attend.
Please register on-line or call the registration number to sign up to
be sure LaRosa’s and JTM have provided
enough food for all.
The evening will end with pyrotechnics by Fast Track at 8PM.
There will also be a “Fallen Heroes” sign (for lack of a better
term) where tri-state fallen heroes will be listed.
I will be requesting our Fallen Heroes SSgt John E. Cooper (Russ Burke’s
nephew, Zimmer Station) and
Ssgt William Ryan Fritsche (Edna Connors’s nephew, Plainfield Offices)
to also be added to the sign,
if they are not already included.
Sunday will be a Veteran’s
Service by the King’s Way Fellowship at 5PM
under the Big Tent in Eastgate Mall’s Parking Lot.
This will be a big 3 day weekend
event and I hope to see you all there.
I will be working at the Telethon and the Welcome Home Celebration.
Please be sure to make your reservations for the Saturday Welcome Home
Celebration.
There will be plenty of parking and shuttles.
The event goes on Rain or Shine and I think you will all enjoy it.
If you do come to the Welcome Home
Celebration, you can call Tom at 513-509-1567 and let him know you’re
there.
He should be able to find where I’m working and I will break away
to see or meet you
(Gene and David I look forward to meeting and seeing you again).
I hope you will be able to attend
one or more of these functions and pay tribute to our military
or to be honored for your military service.
