Introduction
Elton Mile is a former student of mine at GPC and, more importantly, he is a young combat Marine who served both gallantly and faithfully with the 2nd Recon BN during some of their toughtest campaigns in al Anbar, including the 2004 battle for Fallujah.

I have forwarded a draft of a letter (which has since been revised) that he is sending out to solicit support for a cross country motorcycle trip he is planning in order to raise money ($10,000.00) and awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project.

All I ask of you is to review the material contained in the links and to help support Elton in any way possible, to include a financial contribution if you are able.

Other ways that you can provide support is to share this information with friends and family, share it with your affiliate organizations such as the VFW, American Legion, or AmVets post with which you are a member, and share it with VVA or military associations to which you belong.

(Jeff, if possible, please include a link to this in the USS Knox Reunion Association, thanks)
All of the funds go directly to the Wounded Warriors Project and not to Elton.

If you are uncomfortable with making an online donation, as I am, there is a link to a downloadable donation form in Elton's materials.
If you are a member of facebook and would like to see Elton's information there,
I'd be happy to share that with you if you send me a message (not a wall posting) via facebook.

Thank you.

5,000 miles across America to benefit our Wounded Soldiers

Mr. Tiarsmith,

My name is Elton Mile and I proudly served four years with the Marines of 2nd Reconnaissance Bn.
I made it through my tour of duty safely, but sadly many brave young men and women bear a much larger burden in defending our country.
The Wounded Warrior Project brings these brave individuals support beyond the brass bands and ticker tape parades.

I'm an avid adventure motorcyclist and beginning July 1st myself and another close friend, Frank Mann, will ride our motorcycles 5,000 miles off-road across America following the Trans-American Trail.

For more information please visit http://www.transamtrail.com/.
I believe motorcyclist share a common patriotism for their country.

I will raise money by writing an ongoing ride report of our journey on advrider.com.
My goal is to raise $10,000 dollars in the five weeks it will take us to reach the coast of Oregon.
Large or small, every donation helps. Let's unite America in support of our wounded soldiers!

In no way will I receive any personal contributions for my trip.
This is 100% non-profit.

For any other questions, concerns, or support please contact me at eltonmile@gmail.com.

Thank you for being a great American. God Bless

Sincerely,

Elton Mile
